We also offer robust construction technology courses to support hands-on learning in the classroom. These courses enrich our Construction Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program. Students in our Construction SHSM will be exposed to a variety of workshops, seminars, and certifications which will introduce them to the world of skilled trades fostering life-long learning. Participants in our Construction SHSM program organize a winter wonderland for our neighbouring schools promoting community and faith based living. They also learn the importance of the virtue of charity which is seen when they donate their products to local hospitals. We recently donated picnic tables, benches and Muskoka chairs to Sunnybrook hospital to enhance their outdoor space and assisted with designing a TCDSB Sensory Space classroom, in one of our elementary schools for students with autism.

Romero is also home of the Accelerated Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) for carpentry and floor covering installers. Grade 12 students across our TCDSB schools can apply for this program which takes place in their final semester. Students in this program have the opportunity to attain their Level One in Apprenticeship. This program gives students the opportunity to complete their graduation requirements while learning an apprenticeable trade. Click here for more information: TCDSB OYAP
